The Australian Space Agency had a big week at the 70th International Astronautical Congress in Washington DC  – signing agreements with three international space agencies and one Statement of Strategic Intent and Cooperation with an industry partner.

The agreements with the German Aerospace Centre, Italian Space Agency and New Zealand Space Agency were signed alongside Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews. International collaboration through agreements like these is a key step in the Agency’s aim to transform and grow the Australian space industry.

The Statement of Strategic Intent and Cooperation was signed with Maxar Technologies - a global provider of advanced space-based technology solutions, with significant global expertise in earth observation and robotics and automation.

The Agency was also represented at over 70 engagements across the week including meetings with international space agencies, presentations, plenary sessions and round tables.

As part of this, Minister Andrews and representatives from the Australian Space Agency engaged in a bilateral discussion with NASA, to further conversations about how Australian businesses can support NASA’s plan to return to the Moon and on to Mars.

Deputy Head of the Australian Space Agency, Anthony Murfett, also accompanied Minister Andrews to the Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral.

Finally, on Friday it was IAC public day where the Agency enjoyed the opportunity to engage and interact with thousands of members of the public and chat about what we do and why!

Many thanks to all those from Team Australia who took part in and contributed to our joint booth, and those who came to visit during the week.
