One of the largest commercially launched rockets in Australia lit up the skies on Friday afternoon.

HyImpulse successfully launched their SR75 rocket from Southern Launch’s Koonibba Test Range in South Australia’s Far West Coast.

Today's launch, referred to as the ‘Light this Candle!’ mission, marked a milestone achievement for the nation's commercial launch capabilities,

A high-power rocket is a rocket that will not reach or exceed an altitude of 100km above mean sea level.

"We are incredibly proud to have been a part of this historic mission. The Koonibba Test Range is world-class and hosting this mission has demonstrated the outstanding expertise and experience of the Southern Launch and HyImpulse teams," reflects Southern Launch CEO Lloyd Damp.

Adelaide-based Southern Launch received funding for development of a mobile launch rail for sub-orbital vehicles under the Australian Space Agency's Moon to Mars Supply Chain Capability Grant program. The rail was used as part of Friday's launch.
