Welcome to space.gov.au - the Australian Government Space Portal 

This portal contains information on the Australian Government's space-related activities and the Australian space sector, as well as links to space-related research organisations, events and our international partners. 

The Australian Government engages in space-related activities to support our national strategic, economic and social objectives. These activities are administered by a range of Government agencies, with the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, via the Space Policy Unit, carrying prime responsibility for civil space issues.

Australian Space Research Program

Australia from space (Image courtesy Bureau of Meteorology)The Australian Space Research Program will provide $40 million over four years through a competitive merit-based grants program to support space-related research, education and innovation activities.

Round 3 has now closed.  Successful applicants are expected to be announced in late November 2010.  
 
Successful round 2 applicants were announced in July 2010. 

Two types of grants are available under the program, Stream A - Space Education Development grants and Stream B - Space Science and Innovation Project grants.
